Final project proposal

Section 1

The skills I’ve developed on this course have been developed through a variety of projects, such as creating a short film as a group project, my role in this included scripting, script management and general management of the project, this included scheduling the film times and communicating with everyone to make sure we stayed on schedule. Other skills I developed included time management and organisation through coursework deadlines. Alongside lessons, I am also helping to manage the filming and photography of a heritage event, this has included communicating with a small group of volunteers who are filming the event as well as organising them to be in the correct place and knowing what they’re doing. These all translate well to my final project idea, which is to create a     showcase event to display work completed by college students, as these will require these skills to manage, plan and run. This has led me to choose my event as it uses the skills I have developed and fits well with my business idea, which is an event management and marketing company that focuses on helping the local community, this would be shown through this event, as my aim is to use donation boxes to support local charities that help develop the arts, through donation buckets. The aim of my event is to be able to successfully hold a one day event that can showcase different work and projects that are across a variety of formats such as photography and film, allowing for people to see students work, this directly relates to my business mission statement as my business statement includes encouraging the arts within the local community, with a showcase event like this allows for both students and attendees to see and appreciate local artwork as well as encouraging the development of the artist’s skills.

Section 2:Research

My methods of research will include communicating with members of college staff who have previously worked to run similar events within the building, as well as discussing with faculty leaders to find the best time and work to produce. I will also look to sent out questionnaires to relevant staff and student to gather interest in it.

Section 3: problem solving

There are many problems that events can face, some of the most common concerns for events are the number of attendees, firstly, a lack of people attending is a concern, this can be diverted through confirmed significant interest in the event and active promotion. alternatively to this, another issue that can arise with attendee numbers is too many people attending, this can lead to crowded rooms, to prevent this room limits and overflow rooms could be put into place. Potential covid issues could also stop the event taking place and so a virtual gallery should be available as a backup plan.

Section 4: planning

Steps of planning would include gathering data about potential interest in the event, communicating with heads of faculty, creating google submit forms for artwork, films, photography to be nominated to appear, weeks to check over and gather the submitted work, schedule of the day and the day of the event.

Section 5: practical skills

The skills that are vital to my project include problem solving, communication, scheduling and organisation, these are needed to successfully run my project and have been developed through previous work. these have all been required skills for multiple projects that involved managing and communicating with a group of people to produce a piece of work. to make this event a success the required equipment would include things such as laptops and graphic design packages full posters and promotional material as well as access to communication such as a phone to communicate through email. The day of the event things such as access to rooms projectors and artwork would be required

Section 6: evaluation and reflection

Ways that my work will be evaluated will include dating and saving old versions of documents, this will allow me to look back and see the development of my ideas. I also create a table to note when significant changes and developments have been made, this will allow me to look back on how my idea changed and allow me to evaluate it better. Once the event has taken place that has been well documented, I can look into evaluating the development and success of the event, this will include a comparative to my initial aims and those that this has been changed through the planning of the event.

Section 7: Presentation

The event will be presented to an identified audience on the day of the event. To allow this event to be evaluated and seen past it being run. Videos and pictures will be taken throughout the day, as well as records of the at work and media showcased being taken, the final presentation of all the work would also include quotes and questionnaires completed by those who attended the event. as well as the input all of those who helped work on the event, alongside all of the past notes on planning and action plans.
